How to make Cluster beans Thoran (Kothamara)- Recipe at a glance:
- Remove strings and chop the beans.
- Stir fry with sauteed onion, chilli along with spices.
- Add grated coconut mixte as specified and toss well. cover and cook till done.
Ingredients:
- 300- 350 gms Cluster beans / Kothamara payar
- 4 Tbsp Coconut oil
- 1/4 cup Fresh coconut bits (chopped) – optional
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1 Red Onion, finely chopped
- 2 Dried red chilli, broken into small pieces
- 1 long Green chilli, sliced (OR 2 small hot chillies, slit )
- 2 sprigs Curry leaves
- 3/4 cup Grated coconut
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 4-5 Shallots , crushed
- Salt to taste
