Millennials just love Avocado toast. So much so, that Americans spend around $900,000 per month ($10.4M a year) on just this particular snack alone. Mashed Avocado, slapped on a piece of toast, with a topping of choice, comes with a hefty price tag, costing anywhere from $6-$11. Why on earth are we spending that much on Avocado toast???
Avocado toast as we know it today first started to be recognized in the early 1990s. The first recorded restaurant menu might be in 1993 when Sydney chef Bill Granger started serving it at his café. Probably the most prominent moment in avocado toast history, however, was when Gwyneth Paltrow included a recipe for it in her 2013 cookbook, “It’s All Good.” After that, the internet was flooded with Avocado toast blogs, vlogs and recipes..
A major factor that boosted the rise of ‘avocado toast’ is the wellness and health factor.. Loved for its nutritional benefits, the avocado has risen in popularity over the years
Perfect addition to the antioxidant, vegetarian, gluten- and dairy-free ingredient diets. The amazing creaminess makes it a go-to in dairy-free recipes also. It also tastes fabulous!
The avocado has been a staple in many kitchens and it’s likely to stay as Internet’s favourite breakfast for a long time.
At my place, we love our Avocado. My husband, myself and my younger daughter can happily have this daily. I love the taste and feel of a beautifully ripe avocado. I can even have it plain. But Avocado Toast is a simple and fun-to-make breakfast or brunch recipe. Quickly prepared, and you can savour each bite.. It’s a wonderful experience. I will have this for breakfast, and find myself smiling as I eat it. I will share versions of my favourite avocado toasts below. I suppose this page will be updated as I discover new favourites. You won’t ever need to buy Avocado toast again!
