South Indian Masala Prawns Gravy

This  South Indian Masala Prawns Gravy is simply the best and easiest recipe for prawn masala EVER! A roasted masala gravy with deliciously spiced prawns makes this a finger-licking side dish for rice or any type of Rotis. It is fantastic with Parotta or Chapatis.

Sometimes.. well actually… many a time, the simplest methods, gave the tastiest results and we just are just amazed by how something that seems so simple tastes like it must involve more steps or skills. This is one of those recipes and one that I hope you all will love me for sharing.

How to make Prawn Masala –  Recipe at a glance:

  • rinse cleaned prawns with turmeric and salt.
  • Chop, slice, and grind.. the ingredients.
  • Saute in sequence in a heavy wok.
  • Add spices.
  • Cover and cook till done.

You might also like:

“You can double this recipe for 1 1/2 kg prawns. Just multiply all ingredients by 2 except ginger and garlic. 13 cloves of garlic and same amount/volume of ginger will suffice”

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 kg prawns, cleaned and peeled (weight after cleaning)
  • 2 red onions sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 8 large cloves of Garlic
  • The same amount of Ginger as the Garlic
  • 3-4 Shallots
  • 2 small green chilies, chopped
  • 2 sprigs of fresh curry leaves
  • 3 Tbsp Olive oil(regular and not extra virgin)
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan Salt crystals
  • 1/4 – 1/2 Tbsp Black Pepper powder
  • 3/4-1 tsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/8 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 Tbsp thick-set Yoghurt
