Simple Malabar Fish Fry | Tasty and Quick
Whenever we have traditional rice meals at home, having some fried fish on the side is always a welcome addition. A regular Kerala every-day meal consists of Fish Curry or Veg Curry with lots of Vegetable side dishes, Pappadams, and the irresistible Fish Fry.  There are several ways that Kerala-style fish fry is made.
This is the easiest recipe, I use regularly for a fish fry. I will update the picture later, for now, we have an image taken quickly before lunchtime on my mobile. I usually make this with Kingfish / Seer Fish, but you can use it to marinate any type of fish. Since we are always in a hurry at lunchtime, I hardly ever get the time to take a good picture, and this post has been in my drafts for over a year now!

How to make Simple Malabar Fish Fry | Tasty and Quick- Recipe at a glance:
- 1. Clean fish.
- Marinate 30 minutes with simple ingredients.
- Fry in Coconut oil
Ingredients:
- 500 gms fish, suitable for frying (It can be whole, fish cleaned and slit with gashes OR fish steak slices like I used here).
- 5 large cloves of garlic
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
- 1 Tbsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Fennel powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 large pinches of ground Cinnamon
- 1 large pinch of ground Clove
- Salt to taste
- Coconut oil for shallow frying
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
- Onion rings and lemon wedges to serve
