Shana’s Fish Fry ROASTEE
Sometimes there are those basic recipes that we know, eyes closed.. the ones we make regularly. It is amazing that with a few little additions, a few extra steps or simply cooking it slightly differently; the result obtained, is something totally different and brings with it, more variety to the table.
Shana’s Fish Fry Roastee is one such recipe. I take my regular, simple Fish Fry Recipe, and add the fairy dust to it. My family loves it, and it’s just simple and fun to make.
Next time, you plan on making a simple fish fry for lunch, keep this recipe in mind. Nothing-much-extra, but much-extra-Special.. 🙂
Oh the word Roastee, in the Urban Dictionary, is The subject of a roast… Being Roasted, I am sure you are all familiar with. So here, it’s just the name I gave to my recipe. My fish is the subject of my roast.. ya see? Ok, Shana stops. 🙂

How to make Shana’s Fish Fry ROASTEE- Recipe at a glance:
- Marinate the fish with simple spices.
- Chill for 3 hours at least.
- Fry fish, add special ingredients(onion, tomato, green chilli and curry leaves) and flame toss.
Ingredients:
- 500 gms fish, suitable for frying (It can be whole, fish cleaned and slit with gashes OR fish steak slices like I used here)
- 1 large red onion, cut into perfect rings
- 1 large tomato, sliced into rounds
- 1-2 mild green chillies, sliced
- 1 sprig Curry leaves
For Marinating:
- 5 large cloves of garlic
- 1 thumb-sized piece of ginger
- 1 Tbsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
- 1 tsp Fennel powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 2 large pinches of ground Cinnamon
- 1 large pinch of ground Clove
- Salt to taste (about 1/2 tsp)
- Coconut oil for shallow frying or oil fo choice
- 2 sprigs curry leaves
