Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

YUMMY!! This Smoked Salmon sandwich with cream cheese filling is so quick to whip up! If you don’t have smoked salmon or don’t like it (it is an acquired taste), you could use sandwich ham or cooked salmon instead! Oh and feel free to add more cream cheese to the 🥯 some people like A LOT..

Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich recipe

You can strike through ingredients, as you prep them, by clicking on the ingredient.

Ingredients:

Soft Bagels or Pumpernickle Bagels 2
Smoked Cold Salmon 5-8 thin slices
Fresh avocado, sliced 1 small
Fresh Dill or parsley, chopped 1 tsp
Spring onion greens or chives, finely chopped 2 tsp
Spreadable cream cheese (flavored with chive or garlic is good) 4 -6 Tbsp
Cucumber (Persian variety), very thinly sliced 1
Tomato, diced 1
Red onion A few sliced rings
Drained capers 1 tsp




Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich toppingsMethod:

  1. Split the bagel in half horizontally. (Optional toast the cut sides on a griddle with some butter, if you like the bagels warm)
  2. Spread cut sides with as much cream cheese as you like.
  3. Over the cheese on the bottom bagel half, sprinkle the chopped dill and spring onion greens.
  4. Next, add the following layers: cucumber sliced, smoked salmon pieces, avocado slices, red onion rings, diced tomato, and capers.
  5. Set remaining bagel half, cream cheese side down, over the filling.
  6. Serve will the filling is still cold for best taste.

Notes:

  • Buy fresh Bagels in Singapore
  • Smoked Salmon in Singapore
  • If you are making this in large batches, you can whip a sufficient amount of cream cheese with the chopped herbs and chill till ready to assemble the sandwiches. For one or two sandwiches, this is not needed.
  • Dill is great in the sandwich, but very little is needed as it is a strong scent and flavor. Dill is great for any fish recipe, as it reduces the fishy scent.
  • Some versions of this sandwich have a lot more cream cheese added to the filling. Add as much as you like.
  • I like to use Kiri Garlic and Herb Spreadable cheese.
  • In my video, I omitted the onion and capers but these are highly recommended for this sandwich.
