Simply the best Avocado Toast!

If you are trying to nail your Avocado Toast, you really, have to use sourdough bread. It’s a game-changer. Classic White or Wholemeal or if you are feeling adventurous try the various Artisan types available in the market. It’s too good! Simple seasonings (that you can play around with). Add a fried egg on top to make it even more irresistible!

Ingredients:

Sourdough Bread (White or Wholemeal) 3 slices
Avocados (small sized, ripe) 3
Butter (to toast the bread) As needed
To taste Mushroom Seasoning Granules. (OR Salty Seasoning of choice)
To taste Red pepper flakes (mild or hot)
Charred Scallion Oil - optional (recipe link below) A drizzle
Fried Egg (Sunny Side Up) - optional One per slice

Method:

  1. Toast your sourdough bread with butter on both sides on medium heat. This takes a little bit of time. keep filliping till the bread becomes toasted and the edges are lightly crisp.
  2. Cut open the avocado, remove the seed and scoop out the flesh.
  3. Slice or Mash the avocado. One small avocado per slice. Spread over the toasted bread slice.
  4. Add a drizzle of Charred Scallion Oil ( Optional Umami – Recipe link below in notes).
  5. Sprinkle the seasoning powder of choice (I use mushroom seasoning granules) over the top and add the chilli flakes.
  6. Optional: Fry an egg and add it on top!!!
  7. Enjoy with a smile 🙂

Notes on Seasonings and other condiments/toppings, that work well on Avocado Toast:

  1. Mushroom Seasoning Granules. Small and light granules are made by dehydrating mushroom extract and blending it with mushroom powder and salt. It is Umami rich.     It works like a flavoured salt, and the Mushroom flavour is not so obvious. 
  2. Charred Scallion Oil – umami-rich oil adds fragrance.  See how to make Charred Scallion Oil.
  3. Ranch Seasoning: which is a mixture of dry buttermilk powder,  garlic powder, onion powder mustard powder, Dried herbs( parsley, dill, chives and tarragon along with salt, sugar and pepper.
  4. Any salty soup seasoning of choice.
  5. Everything Bagel Seasoning.
  6. Pizza Seasoning.
  7. Cajun Seasoning.
  8. Sichimi Togarashi Spice Blend which is a mixture of , dried seaweed,orange peeled pepper, sesame seeds, ground ginger, poppy seeds, and white pepper.
  9. Nutritional yeast.
  10. Celery Salt.
  11. Ground Cumin, Smoked Paprika.=
  12. Garlic Salt flakes or other flavoured salt.
  13. Dry garlic flakes.
  14. Sriracha or other hot sauces.
  15. Roasted Garlic.
  16. Seeds (Pumpkin, Sunflower ).
  17. Pickled onions, peppers or other pickles.
  18. Cherry tomatoes.
  19. Lemon juice.
  20. Different Herbs, Dried or Fresh.
  21. Cream cheese.

Suggested:
