Salata Hara (Middle Eastern Salsa)

The essential Salsa that accompanies most Arabian Rice dishes like Kabsa, Mandi, Majboos or Bukhari. It also goes well with all grilled items.

No cooking required.

salata hara - Middle Estern Salsa recipe

Ingredients:

Red Onion 1 (Small sized)
Ripe tomato (basically double the amount of tomato as onion) 1 large
Long fresh Green Chilli 1 (or to taste)
Fresh cilantro (coriander), chopped 2 Tbsp
Distilled White Vinegar 1 Tbsp
Mild chilli powder 1/2 tsp
Olive Oil 1 Tbsp
Salt To taste




Method:

  1. Chop the onion, tomato and green chilli to large chunks and add to your food processor.
  2. Process this by pulsing a few seconds till it’s somewhat ground up but not too finely.
  3. Open the processor and add cilantro, vinegar, and chilli powder. Process again in pulses, till its all blended uniformly. Not too long.
  4. Open and add olive oil and salt to taste. Salata Hara is ready to be served with any of your favorite Arabian Rice dishes, Grilled foods and Salads.

Notes:

  • Although you can use a small blender jar/ grinder to make this salsa, I have found that using a small chopper/ food processor, gives the best result, texture wise.
  • Add a clove of garlic, if you like the flavor.

Key Ingredients: Red Onion, Tomato, Green Chilli, Coriander, Olive Oil, Salt.
