Description

Refreshing, Cooling, Nourishing. Katira Drinks are popular during Ramadan. Makes one 1.5L jug for the family.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

Video
  1.  Soak the Gum Tragacanth in a large bowl of water for 5- 7 hours (overnight), till it fills the water and looks like jelly.
  2. Also, soak the Boat Sterculia Seeds. It will grow into looking like something that lives under the sea. :)
  3. Remove the seed and the skin from the soaked mixture and keep only the 'jelly-like' part.
  4. Basil seeds need to be soaked till they expand/swell up as well.
  5. To a 1.5 liter jug, add all the soaked ingredients as well as the chopped dates and jelly. Add the water and milk to the capacity of the jug. It should not be too milky. Nice dilute milk is better for this recipe.
  6. Add the rose-flavored syrup (which is sweetened) and adjust to the desired level of sweetness! Stir well! Pour into iced glasses and serve.
