The Recipe Intro includes a Simple Rice dish, that you can serve this Raita with as well as Recipe Video. Don’t forget to check it out.
Ingredients:
Thick yogurt | 1 1/2 cups | |
Carrot, freshly diced | 1 1/4 cup
Celery, finely chopped | 1 1/2 Tbsp
Spring onion ( bulb and leaves), chopped | 3 Tbsp
Green chilli, minced | 1 Tbsp ( or to taste )
Garlic powder | 1/4 tsp | |
Black pepper powder | A Dash
Salt | To taste |
Method:
- Dice the fresh carrot and steam till lightly tender. Should not be too crunchy for this Raita. I like to steam in the microwave on high for 2 minutes. Cool completely.
- Add the thick yogurt to a bowl and whisk well.
- Add the chopped green chilli, celery, and spring onion.
- Add salt to taste and a dash of pepper.
- Add the cooled carrot and stir through.
- Lastly, add the garlic powder and adjust seasonings.
- Serve with any rice dish of your choice or the Tomato Garlic Rice on the Intro page.

Notes:
- Steaming the carrot till slightly tender makes the Raita easier to eat, while not compromising on flavor. Steam the diced carrot instead of boiling in water for best results.
- The yogurt needs to be very thick and creamy and sour as well. I like to mix Sour Indian yogurt with regular yogurt to get the best flavor.
