The most widely used and popular choice is the Vidalia or Yellow onion. Their distinctive sharpness is perfect for this caramelized onion recipe. Red and White Onions may be used as well. White Onions tend to lack the savory depth of the Yellow Onions. Red Onions are more pungent and sharp and they may not give you the same Caramelized texture or color you are after. It all comes down to personal choice and availability, but for burger recipes, we recommend using yellow onions! |
