How to make Asian Chilli Garlic Prawns (Shrimp) Recipe at a glance:

  1. Clean and cut the prawns as desired. Partial butterflying is recommended.
  2. A simple marinade to bring out the sweetness of those fresh prawns.
  3. A sauce is easily whipped up.
  4. Some fresh ingredients are chopped.
  5. Saute the chillies and freshly chopped ingredients. Add the marinated Prawns and toss.
  6. Stir in the sauce and cook briefly.
  7. Garnish and you’re done.

Ingredients:

  • 550-600 gms Medium Sized Prawns
  • 3-5 Mild dried Chillies, broken into small segments
  • 2 Tbsp Oil
  • 6 large cloves Garlic, smashed with the side of your knife
  • 6 thin slices of peeled Ginger
  • 2-3 Tbsp Red Chilli Sauce
  • 3 Spring Onions, cut into sections

Marinade:

  • 2 Tbsp Shaoxing wine/ Chinese cooking wine or use Substitute – see notes.
  • 1 tsp Asian Sesame Oil
  • 3/4 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp Water

Sauce Mixture:

  • 1 Tbsp Shaoxing wine/ Chinese cooking wine or use Substitute – see notes.
  • 1 tsp Light Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Red Chilli Sauce – see notes.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
